The pyramids of Egypt

The Egyptian pyramids built more than 4000 years ago, are the oldest and the only wonder is preserved. They served as a tomb for the Egyptian pharaohs, whose mummified bodies were surrounded by treasures and personal objects. Looming over the desert sand, the Egyptian pyramids, slender majestic, they are more than just a temple and a tomb. 


To them, and especially the Great Pyramid, one has the impression of being in the presence of a monument that holds in its bowels transcendental secrets very closely related to its structure.

In Egypt the pyramids were temples directed to the glory of God, temples complex rituals of death and birth, and the monuments to the knowledge of much less ignorant people of what historians believe time.


The great temples, tombs and the remarkable pyramids of the Nile Valley in Egypt have become a fascinating place, a source of inspiration for the traveler, from about the last three thousand years. The ancient Egyptians believed that after death the spirit of the deceased continued to live, so great pains to make sure they would enjoy the afterlife.






  • One of the Seven Wonders of the World is made up of three pyramids of Egypt. The pyramids are: Keps, Kefrén and Micerino, these recive the name in honor of Pharaoh that was buried in each pyramid, because was constructed with the end of serve as grave.

The Coliseum of Roma


Located in the Italian city of Rome, it was built during the Roman Empire, to the years 70-80 AD. It was built during the reign of Flavia Dynasty, so the building was originally known as the Flavian Amphitheatre (Latin Amphitheatrum Flavium). However, it received its current name due to the existence of a large statue nearby, called the Colossus of Nero, made of bronze and huge size (measured between 30 and 35 meters high). 

In 1980, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

At the Coliseum gladiator fights and a series of public events such as reenactments of naval battles, fights between animals and men, performances of plays, etc. were made The amphitheater became the largest of all the Empire, so the festivities in honor of the inauguration lasted 100 days.

The use of this building lasted nearly 500 years, and the last games were held there in the sixth century. Already in the early Middle Ages, it was completely abandoned its use for the function of entertainment, going to be reused as a factory and strength of a religious order.


Currently, the Colosseum has a badly damaged structure due to a series of earthquakes that seriously affected, coupled with the work of stonemasons who were tearing much of his material. Despite this, the amphitheater remains one of the icons of reference of the city of Rome, reflecting the height of its imperial era, and one of the most famous tourist attractions in Europe. Today, the building is linked to the Catholic Church, as the Pope leads the ordeal here every Friday.


  • After the famous executions of Christians, from the VI century, the gladiatorial games was lost. After, the building suffer four earthquakes and into the Middle Ages, became the quarry of Roma. The Coliseum is a very prestigious antiquity by the Romans, as this architectural design, it has done with perfect structures. Knowing the Coliseum in Rome is an adventure, not only for its structure but also for its history.
